Character Name: Lorna Dane
Codename: Polaris
Approximate Age: 19
Hair Colour: Green
Eye Colour: Green
Gender: Female
Powers: Magnetokinesis: ability to manipulate magnetism. Although she has the potential to exercise all of the powers that Magneto has, as yet she has only used powers involving the manipulation of magnetic, electrical, and gravitational fields. Moreover, she cannot summon as great an amount of energy as Magneto can. The exact limits on the amount weight that she can magnetically lift at present have not been measured, but they are considerably below those of Magneto. Since she has preferred not to use her powers in combat situations, she has not worked nearly as hard to develop them as Magneto has. As with Magneto, it is unknown whether Polaris's powers are purely psionic or whether they derive from her physically.
Polaris has been observed levitating metallic objects and creating force fields in which she can suspend persons or objects in the air and in which she can protect them from attacks from outside the fields. Polaris can focus her magnetic energy into powerful concussive blasts. She can also overload or short-circuit electrical systems. By concentrating, Polaris can perceive the world around herself solely as patterns of magnetic and electrical energy. She can perceive the natural magnetic auras surrounding living beings, as well. Her personal polarity is opposite that of Magneto's.
Special Attributes/Skills: Lorna is a master in the field of geology. She uses her powers to help herself in this area. She has worked as a secret agent for the government, though it didn't last. Malice continued to influence her and she was forced to quit.
Lorna has extensive combat training as well as great endurance and conditioning.
History: Lorna Dane's powers surfaced while she was under the control of Mesmero and put in a mutant energy stimulator. It was during the development of her powers that Magneto was able to take advantage of her state and convince her that he was her father (which later turned out to be true), enabling him to manipulate her to slaughter thousands of innocents in the Geonoshan Massacre.
It wasn't long after this that she was discovered by the X-Men, left back on Geonosha after her father assumed his daughter was dead. They brought her back to the X-Mansion where she was nursed back to health, and brought to see the truth of what had occurred. He was able to lock up some of the pain and anguish of what he did, but she insisted he not remove the memory from her mind. She wanted to remember her mistakes.
After adjusting at the X-Mansion, Lorna was abducted by the Marauders and possessed by the evil Malice, a personality that gripped her mind and never was truly removed. After finally being stopped during an assassination attempt on Charles Xavier, the personality was locked up in the recesses of her mind, with the continuing danger it could escape without careful guard. To this day, Lorna doesn't allow anyone inside her mind, in fear of what they might find or unleash.
Eventually, Polaris returned to Magneto's side, not only to learn how to use her powers from him, but to find out if he truly was her father. After discovering he was, she stayed with him on Geonosha until he recovered. It was then that the Island of Geonosha suffered a horrid attack and Lorna was forced to keep the electromagnetic field of the dead in tact, causing her to nearly lose her mind. Once again, Professor X was able to get through to her, setting up new mental blocks. Unfortunately, these scarring events were only seeped up by Malice, allowing her to grow stronger, which was why she was always a threat to Lorna.
As usual, Lorna left the X-Men, joining the Brotherhood yet again, letting Malice influence her to believe that the X-Men were the true danger and evil, not the Brotherhood. She currently leads the Brotherhood while her father is away.
Sample RP: Lorna walked down the long walkway, her eyes glowing a very bright green, matching the color of the bright aura surrounding her hands as she readied herself for a concussion blast. She stared at the leader of the Geonoshan strike force, laughing at his feeble attempts. "You really think you can stop Magneto? That you can hinder what he wants or does?" She blasted him with one concussion blast, knocking him to the ground. "You can't even get past me, his fourteen year old daughter." She sent another blast at him, breaking his arm. "In fact, you're so weak, you can't survive an attack from a young child." She used her powers to rip the iron from his blood, killing him instantly.
She was only doing as her father had instructed her, to protect mutants from these evil people who wanted to eradicate them. Too bad she was given incorrect information. Too bad for the ones she was about to extract punishment upon. Lorna was ready to eradicate these humans for crimes they had never committed, all because a man who claimed to be her father had influenced her to do so. But what else could be expected from the mind of a child?
